Co-Director - BEST Programs 4 Kids

As the co-Director of BEST Programs 4 Kids, alongside Claire Orange, much of my time is spent on the development of business interests in Australia and overseas as well as the ongoing research into and development of new resources in the social and emotional well-being space.

BEST Programs 4 Kids is the result of decades of work and experiences.  It includes a range of curriculum-based resources for children, parents, educators and therapists to help children and their families towards better mental health outcomes.

Kidzmix Author

Kidzmix was Helen's brainchild - way back before Social and EMotional Wellbeing became common knowledge. With years of experience gained from thousands of children and their families over decades, Helen knew that simple solutions for children and parents were essential.
Running groups of children through programs of skill development focused on the acquisition of life skills required for resilience, relationship building and self-regulation, Helen became known for her unique, child-centred approach. This lead to the writing and release of her first book - Helping Kids to Become Social Heroes which has been hugely popular in Australia and beyond.

From magazine Living Well, August 2014  Book Review
I am desperate not to open this review with a cliché but I can’t help it.  This is essential reading for every parent.  There are skills and advice in here that can immeasurably change your children’s lives for the better, but it is a must-read for teachers, counsellors and coaches too. Helping Kids Become Social Heroes is a fun and practical self-help book for adults and children.  The aim is to help kids between the ages of 5 and 12 develop the vital social and emotional skills that will enable them to make friends, bounce back from difficulties and achieve positive mental health and happiness.
I wish I had known about this book earlier this year, when my son came home distraught from school over a period of weeks because one of his playmates didn’t want to be his friend anymore, telling him to ‘go away’ several times a day.  I could have used many of the strategies and role playing activities demonstrated throughout the book.  I’ll be keeping this close.
